LinkedIn and YouTube dominate social GEO citations in GEOforge's B2B tracking set of about 33,000 sources, with YouTube near 1,944 citations and LinkedIn near 1,200 while Facebook (~76), Instagram (~180, all Reels), and X lag far behind. On episode 33 of The GEO Show, Paris Childress and co-host Simon Young (Stitch) debate whether social media influences generative engine optimization, filter SiteForge Discovery live, and show that ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews often share almost zero overlapping citations on the same prompt.
LinkedIn and YouTube dominate social GEO citations in a live B2B dataset. On episode 33 of The GEO Show, Paris Childress and co-host Simon Young of Stitch open SiteForge Discovery on GEOforge's roughly 33,000 citation sources and filter by social domain. YouTube lands near 1,944 citations. LinkedIn lands near 1,200. Facebook is about 76. Instagram is about 180 and entirely Reels. X barely appears. Social media does influence generative engine optimization, but the winners are a two-platform pair, not a generic "be on social" brief. The rest of the hour turns that filter into an operating plan: which LinkedIn formats cite, how engines fragment, and how to stack prompt-matched YouTube and LinkedIn assets without empty title matching.
Around that throughline they debate posts versus LinkedIn Pulse articles, whether engagement predicts citation, why ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews can share almost zero citations on the same prompt, a LinkedIn republish test for a non-citing listicle, Particle Radar podcast pitching, and a high-information-gain YouTube script experiment aimed at a Stitch prompt with zero share of voice.
Yes, in this GEOforge B2B citation pool they do. Filtering SiteForge Discovery to LinkedIn returns about 1,198 unique pages, mostly Pulse articles, with a meaningful share of posts from companies and personal profiles. Filtering to YouTube returns about 1,944. Facebook returns about 76 sources, mostly company pages and public groups. Instagram returns about 180, all Reels. An x.com filter is polluted by substring matches and never yields a clean tweet set. Paris's read is that X largely blocks AI crawlers and keeps data for Grok.
You absolutely cannot ignore LinkedIn and YouTube. It starts with those two.
Because engines are fragmenting. Paris reports that the same prompt often produces entirely unique citation sets across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, and Claude. AI Overviews lean YouTube. ChatGPT leans Reddit and LinkedIn. One client sits near 50% share of voice in Google AI Overviews and about 11% in ChatGPT. Aggregate blended SOV across engines is almost meaningless; report by engine.
Both, with relevancy first. Paris wants LLMs to prefer the exact answer even from an obscure author with modest engagement. Simon argues some interaction may still be required so zero-engagement spam cannot win. Paris commits to an MCP analysis correlating LinkedIn post engagement with citation rate. LinkedIn articles remain indexable UGC URLs where title and URL SEO still matter.
Maybe, if the stack carries information gain. Simon frames podcast title, YouTube title, LinkedIn article, and site page matching the exact prompt as GEO keyword stuffing that could win exact-passage retrieval. Paris names the missing ingredient: information gain from BaseForge knowledge, delivered as a ContentForge video-script format, then published as a high-density YouTube video for a Stitch prompt with zero current share of voice. His bet: Google AI Overviews can surface an exact-title video in days. Homework for the following week: publish the Stitch video, stand up a ContentForge video-script path, and run the LinkedIn engagement-to-citation study Paris promised after the Discovery filter.
02:55. LinkedIn filter lands ~1,198 unique citation pages, majority Pulse articles.
13:14. YouTube over/under resolves at ~1,944 citations versus LinkedIn's ~1,200 line.
14:45. Same prompt into ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews often shows zero citation overlap.
19:02. Instagram returns ~180 sources, every one a Reel.
42:15. Paris names information gain as the missing ingredient in exact-prompt stacking, and tees a ContentForge video-script format.
The hour closes with homework: publish the Stitch zero-SOV video, run the LinkedIn engagement-to-citation study, and check results the following week. Social influences GEO. In this dataset, LinkedIn and YouTube are the platforms that actually show up.
Hello, Simon. How are you doing today? As always, busy. I'm sure you are too. Yeah. Yeah, pretty busy. Definitely. But I'm not complaining. Oh, no. Definitely, definitely don't complain when you've got a lot of people wanting to talk to you. Yeah Well, today we're gonna be talking about, hopefully debating, social media's influence on GEO. So before we dive in, what does this Generally, what does this topic mean to you?
What do you Overall, what do you think about is social media something that influences GEO or not? Well, that's the question, and something I think we really need to test because as it stands, I don't, I don't think there's any real proof that it does. But that said- you've started seeing citations coming through from LinkedIn articles. so that is definitely something that's getting referenced and picked up. I don't know, you Are you seeing it?
I know we don't have a module in GEOforge that is sort of looking at that, but is that something you're looking to build in? in fact, we do, and I'll show you what I've found. Let me go to Let me open up GEOforge, and I'll go into our own account. Let me make sure I get this teed up properly, and then we'll look at this. Okay, here we go.
So this is the module is SiteForge, site for citations, and we have this Discovery tab, which shows us the domains and the URLs, and basically this is the entirety of everything that gets pulled out of all the LLM scraping that we do, all the citations. So you can see a large number, 33,000 in total since we started tracking, and I can filter this. So I wanna filter this by domain. Let's see.
In fact, I wanna look at the URLs specifically, and then I can filter by domain. LinkedIn, that's our first theory, and we've got a ton of them. every time you see Pulse here, and I'm gonna highlight this, when there's Pulse in the, URL, that's a LinkedIn article. Yeah. So the vast majority of these are LinkedIn articles.
That's why I'm doing so much of this with the newsletter, I mean, in part to get access to those subscribers' inboxes, which is really sweet, but also I'm trying to get, put these pages in position to, to be citations. And we have almost 1,200. We have, well, 1,198 sources or unique pages. Almost- All, all in LinkedIn almost 1,200 LinkedIn citations appearing.
Majority are articles I know you haven't published, well, maybe you have, but I don't think you've published that many articles, as in over 1,000. No, these aren't ours. No, these are This is everything from LinkedIn. Oh, okay. But it's pretty strong evidence that LinkedIn articles are appearing quite a lot in my, in my citation. I mean, in my prompt set, which is, you know, the prompt sets are here in SignalForge.
These prompts up here, I won't go into it, but we're tracking 30 prompts and we're updating, we're updating them every seven days. We're scraping the results from ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode. So when Yep when you say a citation in terms of those URLs that you are tracking in there in SiteForge, those are mentioning anything to do with GEO or one of the prompts that you're tracking, right? Yeah. These are links. These are source, citation source links.
these are not mentions. So they're not, yeah, they're not mentions of GEOforge, but they No they are giving weight to anything within that prompt set. Is that right? Yes. Yeah. this is, this is weighing into the share of voice calculations. Yeah. Okay.
but one thing- So you're tracking a bunch of competitors I'd imagine as well, Yeah within that list of whatever it is, 1,200-odd LinkedIn pulse articles in the main, and you're not, you're not seeing normal LinkedIn posts there, are you, or are you? I do. I also see LinkedIn posts. So let's look at posts See, that's really interesting. hold on. Let me find out. I can't There are, there's a fewer share, but there's still significant share here, as you can see highlighted.
I'll go to the next page also. Let's see what we get. LinkedIn post pages. Actually, quite a lot of them. I mean, not quite as many as Pulse, but still a good number. So LinkedIn is pulling LinkedIn posts and articles both. Articles a little bit more than posts. I always thought posts, because you need to be logged into LinkedIn in order to produce a feed, a news feed- Yeah so you have to have an account.
That's why I thought ChatGPT could, generally could not access posts, but I think that I was wrong looking at this data. The, the question from me then would be if we could do the analysis, if we pulled all those posts, are they- Yeah therefore, posts that are more engaged with than normal posts? If you see what I mean, right? Are they the, are they the posts that are getting the traction? That would be a really interesting piece of research. Yeah.
I think that's something that I should do. I think we can do that. We have an MCP connector for the GEOforge database, which means that I can go into Claude and I can say exactly what you just suggested. I can say, "Pull all the citations from LinkedIn in the GEOforge account. Look at the ones that are slash posts, that are LinkedIn posts, and try to detect if there is a pattern for posts, that appear, is there a pattern with, the engagement?
Are these posts typically with very high engagement, or is there any kind of correlation between the engagement and the citation appearances?" That'My, my guess is that they're all gonna be coming from pretty influential people, and also- Yeah some of these are from companies too, so you can see that, for example, I'm gonna highlight this one. Post/AthenaHQ. That's, that's one of the big competitors.
Let me make this a little bit larger here But then you have others that clearly are names like posts, Matt Hamill, I think I even recognize his name. Yeah. So I think you have both company and personal profile posts, but that's something that I am gonna run and hopefully can report back on next time, Simon, is are these posts popping up, is engagement what is making them the most visible and the most selectable to be included as citations?
So is there a correlation between post engagement and citation rate? And that I tell you what, if you come back with a piece of research that says that is the case, that'll get shared. Yeah. That article that you then write off the back of that will get shared everywhere, because- Yeah that's the evidence we need to prove that, you know, social engagement or engagement with, and I think you said it there, a certain level of account.
You know, you I would imagine- there's a combination of both, i.e., high value influencer posting with engagement would- Yeah far outrank new LinkedIn account, someone talking about, GEO, and then getting some engagement, right? I would- Yeah the, there must be a a multiplier in there somewhere. Yeah.
And let's not forget, there has to be contextual relevance, too, to the prompt, and it could be that, and I really hope that it's the case, that the primary, the primary consideration is relevancy to the prompt And so if I, if I have a YouTube post, maybe I'm not the biggest influencer and maybe my post doesn't get huge engagement, but my post is exactly answering that question that was posed to the LLM. Yeah.
I should be the one that's selected, because that is the promise. That's what LLMs are supposed to do, is to dig deep, to go beyond the top of the pyramid, the first 10 results in Google, or the, just the biggest influencers with the highest engagement, and actually dig out the perfect answer from wherever it is, even if it's an obscure non-influencer or, even if it's a post that didn't get a lot of shares, but if it's exactly answering the question.
but it'll Maybe it should be something that's been interacted with- to some extent. We can't just have- Yeah you know, other- otherwise I'd just go and build a whole bunch of videos to answer exact a set of prompts, Yeah and then share them on my LinkedIn article, and therefore- Yeah maybe- Yeah, if you don't get the- I'm the only person. Of course. Right. I think it's gotta be a little bit of both.
If you don't have any social proof, any social validation, if the, well, if the audience is not, is not validating you through likes, comments, and engagement, then that's, I think that's a big negative signal. Maybe you've answered the question, but nobody's paying any attention. and you haven't been validated by the social network. so I think there's gotta be social validation plus relevancy in answering the question.
But that would be a great study- But the other, the other piece I wanna test is does So, so for example, other social networks, are they appearing in here? Let's see. We, we can just filter. Which one do you wanna try next? Well, maybe Facebook. Let's just see if Meta's in there. Yes. not as much, but in fact, compared to 1,200 in LinkedIn, only 76 sources- Wow on Facebook, so much smaller. And by the way, it looks like hmm.
Here's, here's Neil Patel. So he's doing- So he would be highly influential, would have domain authority or social authority if you wanna call it that. Yeah. so he would get away with posting on the top. Not that I'd imagine Well, there will be plenty of people talking SEO, GEO, AI search optimization, et cetera, in Facebook, not at the level of LinkedIn, I'd imagine. Yeah. But what if we look Here, here's Neil Patel again. Yeah what if we look at YouTube? Okay.
Before we move on, I wanna make a couple of observations here. I'm seeing that these are mostly Facebook pages, company pages like Try Searchable, Semrush. Yeah. Neil Patel, Neil Patel is actually a, it's a person and it's a brand actually, 'cause Neil Patel is a, is a company brand as well. Digital Nomads, LiaisonEDU, and then we have a few instances of LinkedIn groups. I see groups here, groups, groups. So Facebook groups again is coming up here, so that's interesting.
What that tells me that actually the LLMs, at least Yeah, I mean, the LLMs are able to, extract answers from Facebook groups, and I guess that these are probably the public groups, not the closed groups. Yeah, it must be public then- 'Cause a private, a private group is not gonna be accessible to any bots and crawlers.
So that's something to keep in mind actually if you're using a Facebook group for marketing purposes, the, I think being a public group is, the way to go. Yeah. So what- All right, you wanted to Yeah, YouTube next Let's try, yeah, let's try YouTube. Now prepare for a big number here. Well, what Before I type it in, what are you gonna, I guess more or less than LinkedIn? Keep in mind, this is GEOforge B2B, but YouTube is dominating AI overviews.
Are you gonna go for the over or the under? Well, we should go over really, but Okay. If you take the over, I'll take the under. So the, the line is at 1,200, right, from LinkedIn? Yeah. Looks like you got You won it by a, by a lot. Almost 2,000, 1,944 YouTube citations compared to about 1,200 LinkedIn citations. But clearly those are the two dominant ones.
I mean, we can try a few others, but this definitely supports all the research and the articles that I've come across, which is that YouTube is the dominant social media for citations in Google AI Overviews. And, and, for B2B, and especially in ChatGPT, LinkedIn is the number one social- Yeah media.
Do you see Here's a, here's a question for you, and this is a debate that maybe we carry on into another Live, Do you see Google starting to ring-fence their own citations or, you know, like the LLMs fragmenting into their own results? You know, across- Yeah do you see what I'm trying to say? We're not There seems to be, to me, that we're pushing into a world where they're trying to keep to themselves. Yeah.
I, what I've seen so far, and I'm reading these stories every day that I'm reporting through the podcast, is that the citations that are appearing across the major AI engines like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, and then Perplexity, Claude, et cetera, they're all very different. There is a very low, degree of overlap of common citations that are shared for the same prompt.
So if you take the same prompt and put it into Google, that will pull up an AI Overview, in ChatGPT, oftentimes there'll be zero overlap, most often. Zero overlap. All the citations in both places are entirely unique. And, and in many cases, the AI Overviews on Google are gonna have a lot of YouTube videos, and none of those videos are gonna appear on ChatGPT. And then ChatGPT is gonna have Reddit threads, but Google's AI Overviews won't have any Reddit threads.
LinkedIn might appear in ChatGPT, but not in AI Overviews. And so, when I think about share of voice, and I'm becoming more and more convinced that it doesn't It's almost meaningless to report on a, an aggregate share of voice, an overall share of voice which is blend- which is blending across all of the AI, models and engines because you could, you could have And we've seen this with one of our biggest clients.
We, something like 50% share of voice in Google AI Overviews and 11% in ChatGPT It's a massive difference because the citations are entirely different. So, you know, that's basically the, that's the picture right now. A very little, a very little overlap. If you can, if you can work out a workflow that gets content shared across all of the socials and engaged with, then- Yeah surely that gives you the weight across multiple.
You know, you can't, you can't back all the horses, so to speak, Yeah. I think it starts with if you're a B2B brand, let's assume that most of the people listening are gonna be B2B brands. You absolutely cannot ignore LinkedIn and YouTube. It starts with those two. You, I'd say you definitely can't leave out YouTube, and LinkedIn, same. I mean, we just saw, we just saw the numbers. 1,200 citations out of about, okay, there's 33,000.
It's still a large pool, but these are the two dominant socials, LinkedIn and YouTube. if you wanna try others, I don't know. We can What about X? Instagram. X might not be as easy a one to search. X.com. Yeah No, this is not Was it outside of the line? See, that's picking up, that's picking up domains with an x.com at the end of them, isn't it? It's not filtering Yeah. No, this is not getting us there. No.
It's, but if I looked at an individual tweet, let's see what the URL structure is like. I'm gonna go in now It's x.com/, but an actual post. I don't think they do have Oh yeah, they do. Okay. So it's x.com/ then the account name, then /status/whatever. But x.com should be the right Not X.AI, but x.com should be the right one here. But it's No, but it's bringing in, for example, Wix, because it's got x.com at the end of it. Oh, yeah.
I need to do like an exact match, but I don't know how Yeah maybe in quotes? No. The system is not set up for that. No, it's not. No, but we'll have to, we'll have to filter it somehow. Maybe x.com with a slash? Nothing. No. there have, there have to be some, tweets You could- they promoted Claude would do it for you, wouldn't it? Yeah, if I could export But even then, the number isn't high.
If No, it's not you know what I mean? There's only 250, and that's including tons of domains. Yeah, the large majority, we haven't even seen one actual x.com domain yet, Right I think, yeah, I think X is out. And I think actually- Right the specifically Twitter or X is not even allowing AI bots to crawl. They're, they're preserving that data stream just for, just for Grok models. What about Insta then? 'Cause we That should be less than Facebook maybe Instagram.com.
You're gonna say less than Facebook? 180 sources. What was Facebook? what was the number? Only a couple of hundred, wasn't it? Yeah, so it's a similar number, but it's a whole order of magnitude lower. And these are Those, those look like just posts though, don't they? They're reels. look, they're all, Oh, they're all reels? All of them actually. Look at that. Everything are reels. But that means that they're coming up as videos, reels.
I wish we could filter this by Maybe we can by, Whether it's Google AI overviews or ChatGPT, I think we can't actually Brand present competitors. We can't do that filter, unfortunately. I can just look for the URL, the domain in the URL. But Instagram is entirely made up of reels, but reels don't show up in ChatGPT, do they? I've never seen any. Not as far as I know.
So this must be-- This actually must be Google AI overviews Because you know that Simon, if you go into Google Search Console, you can look at your social media performance inside- Yeah of Search Console. They added that recently. So if I look at, let's see Indexing pages, videos. No.
There's a I don't really know where to go here actually, but it's, I think it's somewhere in this visibility of a performance Add a filter I tell you one thing I did spot is your podcast is getting some good traction now in terms of citation. 'Cause I that one I sent you yesterday picked up, the GEO show as the strongest source, which was pretty cool. Yeah. Well, which one? It, it even named, it even named the episodes, 14 and 19.
I don't know what those were particularly about, but That's great. Yeah, that's what I'm trying to do. I can't find the social, presence in here. so I don't know. I'll switch back to GEOforge's, citation data. So I think what we can conclude so far to our question of this episode is that is social media influencing GEO? generally, yes. I think that more and more it's going to these are just strong, these are strong offsite signals.
but you have to consider the fact that they can also be manipulated too. So I think there may be a little bit of caution, But clearly LinkedIn and YouTube are very dominant here. Yeah, LinkedIn isn't overly manipulated. I know obviously you can go and you can comment, et cetera, on You can generate comments, right? That clearly doesn't work. Yeah. But I think, yeah, articles clearly, those pages stand as, unique individual URLs anyway, so they're getting indexed.
there will be an element I'd imagine, well, there must be an element of on page, SEO, so to speak, on LinkedIn articles. So your title- Yeah is gonna matter. Even the URL, you know, if you, when you publish those articles, it gives you a, UGC URL for the article, and typically the keywords or phrases which are in your first paragraph or two appear in that URL often.
So that'd be an interesting finding if you were to write an article which matched a prompt exactly. Yeah. Let's take an actual example of what you just said, Simon, because I'm trying to do something now with this article here. I'm gonna switch over. We do, we do listicle swaps. This is our website. We do listicle swaps. So we offer, we reach out to listicles and say, "Hey, can we be in your list?
And we will put you in our list." And this is our list, and here I'm trying to frame this as, beyond the usual suspects, breakout GEO platforms worth watching. So this is not including the big names like Profound, Peak, Air Ops, that are in 99% of all the listicles. because I'm reaching out to the long tail and I wanna get I'm gonna give long tail love if I, if I can get into those, into those listicles as well.
So we have these platforms here. Now, I know I've never seen this appear as a citation page. Actually, I'm gonna check it right now just as a, a thought experiment to see if the specific This is gonna come up. No. There's an exact okay, so this page is not working as a citation. It's, it's not, doing what it what it was intended, which is to appear as a citation for somebody who's looking for what are the top GEO platforms, basically.
what are the best AI search optimization or GEO platforms? I think you'd have It might You would have to caveat that with yet, wouldn't you? Yeah. Yeah. and I'm kinda positioning this as these are the, these are the sleepers that people aren't talking about or don't really know about, but they're really great. They have a lot of features that the big guys have, and I do believe that.
but what if I, instead of posting here or in addition to posting here, what if I I created a LinkedIn article with this exact same content? Would, and then linked it to this page? Or not, doesn't matter. my objective is to try to win a citation either for this page on my website or for the, a LinkedIn article, which is a, an identical copy of this, but I'm just gonna republish this on LinkedIn as an article to see if that could get picked up.
because then I could juice that with social signals. I could try to get people to come and comment, like,.. So it's on a stronger domain. It's not on my domain, but it's on my It's still, I would still consider that an owned, an owned property because it's my LinkedIn company. I mean, it's actually my personal profile. It's an article. But if, what if you then also build a video and embed that, and that's on YouTube? Yeah.
That would strengthen it, and that would also strengthen this page, too. 'Cause you've got the ability to embed that YouTube video on your LinkedIn article, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, what I do every day now, and I think you're seeing a lot of this, I'm sure, Simon, is that I go to, we have the newsletter. Let me go down here. The GEOforge daily newsletter here. And let me just hide some of this stuff. New editions, 62 editions.
Oh, I wanna go into the last This is the Sure. Yeah. Okay. Well, here's the last one. Yeah. Which is, by the way, this is pretty interesting 'cause it's exactly what we talked about on Friday. ChatGPT is, launching branded AI agents inside of their ads platform. That, that is, that is exactly what we talked about, is that the, the advertising model is gonna be agents selling you stuff through chat instead of, banner ads or links charging as you can see.
Well, they better, they better send us the check 'cause we, Yeah. Absolutely you know, they obviously they plagiarized it off of us. I think so. Absolutely. Clearly. Anyway, here's the here's a LinkedIn embed and, I think I don't know, it can't hurt because if people watch the video here, that counts towards my YouTube views and that's nice. Yeah.
But, I don't know if this, if this adds anything to the actual algorithm that's gonna decide whether this should be a citation or not. I don't know. So on that, on that article, each of the articles that you're publishing- Yeah are you literally just embedding the video? No, no. I don't know why I can't scroll. Here it is. Now it just appeared. So what I do is I've got the cover, the cover image, which is also my thumbnail.
It's my YouTube thumbnail image, too. So that's why you see the same thing here- Oh, right but this is a playable video embed. Yeah, so anytime, if I wanted to edit this article, you have this control panel here, and you just embed the YouTube link and it pops it right in. So I do that, I do that every time, or I should say my Grok bot does this, not me. Of course.
That's another- You'd be, you'd be crazy to do anything else, nowadays. I was speaking to somebody who runs a social media agency earlier and, showing her Grok and it was like, "Really? Oh, that'd be an amazing if we could do that." Like, wow. The, the amount of work that it's doing, my I've got about 20 bots running now. Do you? Wow. I have run out of credits eventually Which, which plan are you on? pro is it the 60 bucks one now?
Six Is it 60? Yeah. I haven't downgraded yet. I might. I'm still I got in at the very beginning and the only plan that was available was 200 a month, but I have not, I have not come close to maxing out my credit. So I I might be able to get away with a downgrade. But I, the way I see it, I just continue to give more and more work to it.
I just gave it a new workflow, and I'm giving them these recurring workflows. So do you know this, help a reporter out website, the HARO? Where you I don't. I've heard of it, I've not used it. Yeah. So you have journalists that are, submitting, they're submitting questions. Like, if I'm doing an article on, I don't know, on GEO, I want an expert who can speak to, what are the best strategies in GEO.
And those, briefs, they go out by, via a new email newsletter. So I get an email newsletter every day with, journalist questions, and there's different categories. One of them is tech, and another is business and finance. So I told my Grok bot to go into that email every day and scan through the stories within the technology and the, business sections, and if anything looks like it's a good match for GEO or GEOforge, then draft an email, 'cause each journalist query comes with an email reply link.
So you click that link, and then you reply to the journalist directly saying, "Hey, yeah, I I know all about this topic. I have, I have this, evidence," or, "I've done a, I've done a study," or something. And I told Grok bot to identify the stories that are good for us, and then to draft those emails and put them in my draft folder and ping me to review it. And it's doing that every day now.
It's, it's similar to what I'm doing or you're doing as well. We're doing PR outreach, finding, you know, articles and listicles, et cetera, that are worth being attached to. Yeah. And my one's going out every day looking for that, sending five or six emails, and I get a stream of replies. I even booked a podcast, for a client that, you know, without even having touched it. it'd done the conversation reply and now it's handed it off to the client. Nice. Yeah.
Oh, for things like podcast, if you wanna do podcast bookings or you wanna get booked on podcasts, I haven't, I haven't unleashed that one yet, but that's my next goal is to have- First of all, have Grok bot go out and do the research, and I have this tool. We might have talked about it. I can't remember if we talked about it during one of our live sessions or outside of one of our live sessions, but there is a podcast directory.
I still have my tab open and this is it. I got By the way, I guess we're taking, we're taking a real detour from the social topic. Maybe we'll come back to it, but, Well, you say that, but the theory being if you are on a podcast, social content is then produced around it. but the thought being that the citation will come from the social proof linked to the external source, i.e., the podcast or channel that you're then featured on, right?
Right. Right, right. And the engagement- So I promote on that Yep. I promote my podcast, as a LinkedIn post and then that's the LinkedIn post. Or I even repurpose my podcast episode, which I'm doing actually. I repurpose my podcast episode as a LinkedIn article, and that's what gets picked up. but what this This is a very interesting engine. It's called Radar and it's from a company called Particle.pro.
but this is a, it's a, it's a podcast database effectively, and what it does is, you can search for topics that occur within the trans- the transcripts themselves, and to my knowledge this doesn't exist anywhere else. So I went in and I searched for generative engine optimization and look at the, the number of times, and this is looking at every day. Yesterday, GEO was mentioned in a, in a transcript on four different podcasts, four different podcast episodes.
And so here it's, the Media, the Media Leader podcast, the Edward Show, Eye on AI, and the SEO Podcast. But sometimes you can have a podcast that might look like it has nothing to do with GEO, like Cold Call, this one. Yeah.
But they mentioned GEO, so this might be a target for me because they're talking about I mean, maybe the title is misleading or it's not gonna give me a clue, but they're The latest discussion literally from today, this was picked up today on September 15th.
This, this guest, Brian Kenny, or maybe he's the host, I don't know, but Brian Kenny talks about, "Today's case explores the emerging field of generative engine optimization." Maybe I I missed it because maybe he's not gonna do a follow-on episode after, but I wanna have my Grok bot pick this up and then shoot an email to Brian Kenny, I assume he's the host, and say, "Hey, I wanna be on Cold Call because I'm a GEO expert and you just talked about GEO yesterday, and I can add a whole lot more context.
You, you just skimmed the surface. I can get much deeper. And if you wanna go deeper into that topic, have me on as a guest." And I'll do that. And you can see every day there's sometimes five, six, even seven episodes. So my Grok bot can be sending out these pitches multiple times a day with this degree of precision and targeting.
And I don't I think this is I mean, one other approach is to go to Claude and to say, "Hey, find me the podcasts that are talking about GEO and AI search optimization," and then probably Claude will do a fine job of that. But I don't think Claude, unless Claude just goes right to this site and does this.
But I think that, I need a subscription Yeah, maybe Claude is going in there, but I presume that tool is a paid subscription, right? It is. It is, yeah. And I might, I might sign up because it's,.. I think it's like $20 a month, and then, so I can, I can only get a certain number of, results here. You can see, you can see it's 82 more episodes mention GEO, but I'm only seeing four, eight, 10.
It cuts me off at 10. But if I had But you get- bot go every day and just scrape, that day and the day before, I still have But you don't see the GEO show in there yet, no? No, I don't. I wish I could submit it, but I don't know how. Maybe I have to sign up and pay them, and then I can submit my own show. Huh. But they're supposedly scraping, the whole podcast verse, universe. I don't know. Yeah.
They're, they're supposed to be looking at Apple, et cetera, aren't they? yeah. I guess. I'm still a new show, but we will see maybe you submit it by searching for it, which is often how it works with a lot of the other search engines. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it looks like I'm not, I'm not here yet. there's a lot of Jeffrey and geography and geology. What about, what about searching the exact phrase? Maybe if it lets you have the quotes around it.
You mean if I put it in quotes like this? Yeah hmm. I'm getting the same, Or does it not? It does- doesn't like it I don't, I don't think it yeah, it's not, respecting those quotes, yeah. But this search is, it's pretty cool. It's, it's builds itself as a search engine for podcasts. I guess that, let's just look for AI search optimization. Oops. Because GEO is a little bit too broad Oh, you're right, yeah keyword search Oh, there's a lot more.
Look at this I mean, generally these are, these are, in some cases we have days with 38 at the peak, and then even a a medium day is about 22, 25. So today there was 11. So basically, even if Claude comes here or whatever, if, ChatGPT with its browser use, even if it comes here, it's only gonna get 10 and then it gets cut off. Oh, right.
So maybe if you had the subscription, you could probably find, you might find the Geo Show then Yeah, because down here it's telling me, "See every episode matching AI search optimization." And by the way, what if I do AI search as another one? 'Cause we saw from Google Trends that was the bigger term, AI search as a keyword Oh, look at this. 455. Today, 191.
So there's just today, which is still morning in the US actually- Yeah there's already been 191 mentions of AI search in the podcast universe. And on, and on a big day there's over 500. But is that, is that per So you see, for example, the one in the middle, AI search is mentioned twice that I can see. Oh, yeah. Actually, yeah. These are, these are actual instances. These are not these are not episodes. You're right. Yeah.
What'It's it's spoken word, isn't it? But, but look at the top up here. Look at these statistics. 14,000 mentions, but 11,000 episodes, which means, okay, maybe you have some shows, because this looks back a whole month. Yeah. So maybe you have some shows that are mentioning it many times across different episodes, but still, I would guess that's gonna be at least 5,000 plus unique podcast shows that could be pitched.
But if, you know, if you take our earlier example, and if there are SEO people watching this, you know, the brain would then say, "Okay, we know LinkedIn and YouTube are both cited." If we then have a podcast where we are then mentioning, say we spoke our exact prompt, and we had the title of our podcast episode as the prompt, and we Yeah a YouTube video as the prompt, and a LinkedIn article as the prompt, and we stacked them all into one, that would be the equivalent of keyword stuffing, if you see what I mean, right?
And I think that would be a That would win. I think that would work. It probably would win. Yeah, I think so. It's kind of You're right, it's, it is keyword stuffing for GEO. But that's what, that's what these engines are trying to do. They're trying to go in and lift the exact passage.
If a user asks a question and I have that exact question as my title of my video, then I'm gonna be the one selected even if I'm on page four in Google. - Well, providing- I think that'Providing- I think that's how it works there is engagement with it, I think.
Because the trouble is, I could spin up a bot that would just produce Let's say I've got a client and he's got his 30 prompts, and I go, "Okay, I wanna make videos about all these prompts," and we want it to follow that exact workflow that we've just talked about. That would be really easy to do. Yeah what is the content of the video? Okay, maybe I could tell Claude or Grok to go and build a really interesting article.
I could even sit here and give my own thoughts on it for five minutes on a video, right? Yeah. Just to put in some user-generated content at the front of it, then publish it on YouTube, put it in the article, put it on LinkedIn, spin it out onto, a podcast, link all of them together, stick that on my website, and then start pinging that out to listicles, 'cause they might then reference it as a piece of knowledge, et cetera, right?
Yeah, yeah. I think there's one missing ingredient there, Simon: information gain. And this is where we could get GEOforge in the mix. so if I had I think, actually, a light bulb just went off for me, because right now GEOforge doesn't do this, but it should. in ContentForge can recommend content topics, and it can recommend them by format type. We have FAQ page, how to, a how-to article, a a regular blog post, a, competitor comparison page.
But you know what we don't have? A short video a video script. Yeah. A video script. Video script. Yeah. So if I could generate a video script that's chock-full of information gain that's pulled from a knowledge base, from BaseForge, and I've got the information gain in the, in the script, and then I can give it the keyword optimized title that matches my prompt, I can create the video from that high-information gain script, and then we've got the winning formula, because I'm gonna share that video out on social.
I mean, it's gonna go on YouTube. It's gonna, it's gonna get shared through social. It'll be repurposed as a LinkedIn article. And that is the winning ticket, I think. Well, we If I, if I We already know when working on YouTube, it reads the thumbnail, it reads the transcript, it reads, the first couple of paragraphs of the spoken word in the video. Yeah. you know, the most, the most important thing, first couple of paragraphs. Any article, first couple of paragraphs.
If you were doing traditional SEO, H1 tag plus first paragraph, phrase inside and in page title, et cetera, right? If you do all of that together, plus schema, plus- metadata plus image includes. So one of the things that other- Alt image people obviously can't do, image includes description, which includes prompt, et cetera. Yeah.
Well, that takes a lot of work unless you have, Grok bot who you can give those very specific instructions to, and they'll do it, they'll do it perfectly every time. Yeah. But this Simon, this is the workflow I want to try with Stitch, and that We've gotta be able to do this from BaseForge, from GEOforge. Yeah.
We need to have a feature that can say to we need to be able to generate a script for a video, and we're not gonna publish that through, the CMS integration. We're not gonna publish it as an article on the website. We're gonna take that script and use it to generate a video basically.
So either you're gonna get up, in front of the camera, or the client's gonna get up in front of the camera and, hopefully not just read it word for word, but generally deliver that script in the form of a video. We might, we might create it as a headless video with something like Higgs Field or one of the video tools. Either way, we're gonna take that script,..
By the way, we might also feed it into Gemini Notebook and have Gemini Notebook do a video on it, because it contains the information gain that we want. Yeah. And we want that to come out in the script, and we wanna give an exact script, to a video production tool. But if we did that with Stitch, we're leveraging the knowledge base.
We're we're creating a script and then creating a video, and then right away YouTube has a great chance of it gets keyword optimized. It gets prompt optimized basically. Title- Yeah matches one of the 30 prompts we're aiming for with Stitch. If we just did YouTube and that's all we did, I think that's a killer workflow.
And if you tell Grok bot to optimize, of course you optimize the title, but you optimize the tags, the descriptions, the You put the, you put the title in the thumbnail image itself as well, so YouTube- We do it all algorithm uses it. Yeah. Make it perfect and then- Yeah test it and see what happens. That's We've gotta do this ASAP, Simon. I think that's,..
I mean, in a way we are trying to, we are definitely trying to improve the share of voice in a very targeted way. But still, I mean, if we wanna we should go after one of the big ones, meaning one of the big prompts. Well, but the question What's a good- You know, the question we're trying to answer is what we're now saying in this, live true?
Can we prove we can take Can we take a prompt that Stitch does not currently have any share of voice for? You know, one of the ones where they- Yeah. Most, most of these. Yeah. Yeah. So can we take one of those and make it true? As in, can we then go from zero to hero? Yeah. And, and I think we should go big.
we should go for something like- I'm looking for one that is something like what are the top platforms for managing WhatsApp business? Well, you know, this one is okay right here. What is the best WhatsApp business API platform for managing high volume customer conversations at scale? Yeah. Now that's a long, that would be a long video title. We would probably wanna distill that a little bit down. Or you know what? Maybe even we go right after a competitor.
What are the cheaper alternatives to Twilio for WhatsApp business messages? Yeah. Can we just attack the competitor here? Well, look, if we prove that this works, you can bet your bottom dollar we'll suddenly have 30 videos up. Yeah. Okay. Well, I need to send this, up the flagpole to Delcho, our head of product, because this is a format we do need. We need a video script. And maybe we can even you might even go in and try with VEC.
just, VEC is Yeah, VEC's really good. The, it, it can go places where you wouldn't imagine. Well, let's try. Can I'm gonna ask, can ContentForge produce a video script? yeah, it's not perfect. So we would It says we would have to adapt, if we want a video script, we have to adapt one of the existing formats, which I don't.
I want an actual script, and maybe even a storyboard as well- that says- Yeah like obviously while I'm waiting for you to do that, I can use my Claude, 'cause I've got a huge knowledge base for Stitch. Yeah, yeah. Just generate a script with Claude for now. Yeah. Yeah. But, but you still need the knowledge base but I, but I'll get it to talk to the knowledge base and to the information gain piece in, GEOforge.
So I'll get it to say, "Go through what, you know, what we've got here, and let's make a script that is gonna " Let's see what Claude says. Yeah. It's a, it's a great test. I'm gonna have to wrap up in a minute, Simon, but I think we both have some homework.
We're gonna do this test with the video script with high information gain and see if we can rank the video and win the citation for one of these big prompts for Stitch. I'm gonna see about building out the feature where we can, where BaseForge, not BaseForge, but ContentForge can generate video scripts the same way they can generate articles and FAQ pages.
And then, I also need to, what we talked about at the very beginning, I wanna run the analysis on the prompts, the citations here to see if social If there is a correlation or if there's a relationship between the social media articles and posts from LinkedIn especially, and their engagement rate. So the question we wanna answer is, to what extent does engagement rate influence a citation from a social media platform?
Oh, I think if you get that, and there is evidence to support that'll go everywhere. Yeah. That'll be every citation you'll need for now. That, that will definitely That will breathe new life into social media marketing. Oh, won't it just? And to tell people to do it properly and get engagement and comments, and not just AI slop. Yeah. But yeah. All right, Simon. Good, good session. So we're back on Friday. Yeah, we are back on Friday.
Let me turn this off and, yeah. I mean, we didn't break our old record today. We're still under an hour, but I did I was honest with the audience and I scheduled it for 45 minutes, and we still went over by about six minutes, but No, we A few we started a few minutes late, so I think actually we're about on track.
But one of the more interesting, you know, this will come out as a proper in the wild test of what we think could well work. Yeah. Great. Very cool. So how about we both commit ourselves to our homework, Simon, and then we, on Tuesday, when we come back together, I show, I show the results of my study, you show the results.
If, I mean, it's a little bit, maybe a little too soon to tell, but hopefully you will have gotten the video script and maybe produced a video that is based on, around one of these prompts. No, I'll, I'll commit to this time next week, we will have 100% published that video. Okay. and we will have- And we'll see if it, if it shows up yeah, we will see.
Well, I can't imagine that it'll have a citation within a week, but you never know. It's, that's a short period of time. Yeah. But I wouldn't put it past Google AI Overview. Google's Google might surface it immediately if it's, if it's something like, what are the best alternatives to Twilio for using WhatsApp business API? And that's your exact video title, and that's the exact prompt.
I would bet that within three days of publishing that video to YouTube, that we'll see that in the AI Overviews SERP, I'll bet. That means, you know, depending how quickly you get it up, but by next Tuesday Oh, no, sorry. We're, we're coming back on Friday. Today's Tuesday. Yeah. Nah, it's gonna be tight. But let's keep our eye on that.
We're not getting it, not getting it cited by Friday, but I'd like to be able to come back in a week or two and go, "It's there." But but still, in a week, what an amazing finding that would be. That would be a blueprint for starting to replicate that for every one of those prompts. 100%. Great. All right. It's been fun, as always, Simon. Well, I've gotta sign off now and, thanks to everybody who's been listening. See you later. All right.
